A study published in the Journal of American Health is claiming that eating as little as two ounces of dark chocolate a day can lower your risk of heart disease. Researchers at the University of California-Davis studied nearly 5000 adults. They followed them for a number of years, tracking both what types of chocolate they ate, as well as their overall health.

The participants were asked to fill out questionnaires about their lifestyle, including how often they ate fast food, junk food, and other foods rich in saturated fats. They were also asked about what amount of dark chocolate they thought they would need to eliminate a percentage of their weight. The results showed that people who ate the least amount of calories from any source, including milk, ice cream, or butter, lost the most weight compared to those who ate the most. Those consuming the most chocolate, in comparison, lost the most weight.

There have been many studies published showing that dark chocolate consumption can have an effect on your health. For example, a study published in the European Heart Journal found that women who consumed more than five ounces of chocolate per day were less likely to suffer from uterine cancer. In addition, the participants who had the highest amounts of flavonols (a type of antioxidant found in red grapes and other citrus fruits) were seen to have a decreased risk of stroke.

Although there are many health benefits to dark chocolate, it’s not going to be the answer to all your problems. Dark chocolate with a higher amount of soy lecithin is healthier than the typical sweet candy.
